Brunch culture is rapidly gaining popularity in Lithuania - it is not only a food choice, but also a new social experience, in which every element is important: taste, aesthetics and atmosphere. One of the most prominent shapers of this culture today is chef Dovydas Vaisovas and his “ Habits Bakery ”. We, Sardinele.lt , are proud to be a part of this delicious and stylish story.
Dovydas is an experienced chef whose culinary skills have been shaped by experiences in Italy, Asia and Lithuania. His approach to food is clear: respect for the ingredient, balance of taste, minimalism on the plate and a strong sense of aesthetics. And yes, even a croissant in his hands seems to understand the angles of light and Instagram filters.
Habits Bakery, which opened in Kaunas in 2023, quickly distinguished itself with its natural approach to baked goods, delicate interior and exceptional attention to the customer. Each dish here is like a miniature culinary composition. From avocado toast to tomato salsa - everything is presented with the idea that food is an experience. Even the coffee foam here looks worthy of a photo shoot.
In 2025, Habits opened its doors in Vilnius, in the Paupis quarter. This place quickly became a weekend attraction - not only because of the variety of flavors, but also because of the atmosphere. From the first step to the last bite - everything is important here. Even waiting in line becomes part of the whole.
It was in this atmosphere that our collaboration was born. Chef Dovydas Vaisovas enthusiastically included our top-quality Portuguese sardines in the Habits Bakery menu. Not as a modest background ingredient, but as a culinary star in the foreground. And not without reason - canned sardines have long become an integral part of Western restaurant and bar culture, where they are boldly served alongside wine, champagne or even cocktails - often just in a can, by the glass.
So here too, sardines - still little known in our region as a delicacy and often, completely undeservedly, still associated with sprats - are being reborn in a new context: creatively, aesthetically, and with a taste that makes you forget all stereotypes.
Habits' success is organic. Without aggressive advertising, but with a strong vision and a loyal community. Today, Habits is not just a place to eat. It is an expression of a lifestyle. And we are happy to be on its ingredient list, and the sardines traveling from Portugal to Paupis symbolize what is possible when a great product meets a good idea.
The brunch culture in Lithuania is still in its infancy, but gastronomic masters like Dovydas Vaisovas show that its foundations can be very solid.
